Feb 28th 2020 – A Lancaster Bombshell for Luneys. –
A murky day didn’t put us off and luckily we escaped the worst of any rain. We arrived in Lancaster around 11.30 after a slight delay on the train and then walked right past the first pub on the list – the Merchants 1688, before returning to it.
Directed to our own cellar we enjoyed a an hour in white pants for a group photo taken by a delightful bar lady.
Next was the Borough where a cheap lunch was taken. A look around the Cathedral followed and then the Golden Lion of witches fame; The Tap House where the wait was well worth it; and then the Three Mariners before taking a look at the Millennium bridge over the river Lune.
Most pubs provided CAMRA discounts and had good selections of alses available.
The Sultan of Lancaster was very good and we’d definitely return there if we came back. An excellent host and waitress, service and food was ace.
